Training a dog does not mean teaching it exclusively commands.
Parenting is an important process that concerns not only people but also pets. If you desire to get a dog or are already a happy owner of a four-legged friend, it is important to know that you need to do a lot with the animal to be obedient. Here are five golden rules for raising an obedient dog.
1. Definition of breed characteristics
First, of course, you need to understand your pet’s breed properly and study the features to find the right approach to it. Do not delay with age, because you can start training a puppy from two months of age. But take the initial, as, in principle, and subsequent actions with an eye to the breed of the dog, your feelings, and the animal’s reactions.
2. Teaching domination

There is a theory that dogs perceive their owners and other family members as a pack. Therefore, it is worth trying to create such an environment that the pet considers you a “leader” and, at the same time, feels respect from you. You need to understand your dog’s body language and reactions and demonstrate confidence and authority. Especially in the main things: feeding, entering, or leaving the room, walking on a leash. For example, if a dog wants to go out, he must sit down before you open the door. Your dog should be able to wait calmly while you are preparing food.
Training a dog does not mean teaching. It only commands. It is also all sorts of prohibitions and restrictions. You cannot allow your pet to climb on the sofa, bed, be on the same level as him. When dealing with a dog, you need to show dominance, look at it “from above.” This way of teaching became known thanks to Caesar Millan.
Modern trainers consider the technique to be outdated. Because many studies have shown that the pack and its laws do not guide dogs so that this method can be used with very naughty dogs and other techniques.
3. Encouraging good behavior

Every right action or reaction must be gifted. And not to wait for this specific moment, but to encourage the dog immediately: within a few seconds after the commendable behavior. If the dog has committed an offense and executed the wrong command, there is no need to punish the pet or use physical force. It will be enough that you don’t present the animal with a treat, toy, or other rewards.
Keep your commands simple and clear for your dog to be rewarded for. For example, “sit”, “lie down”, “fu”, etc. So that the animal understands exactly what it is being praised for. If several family members train the dog, the reward system should be identical and consistent. For the execution of the same commands, you need to reward your friend equally. If the gift consists of some delicacy or sweetness, the main thing is not to overfeed. Observe the minimum amount of treats.
4. Clicker

This training method is similar to the previous one but has its own characteristics. To educate dogs with a clicker, you first need to purchase it. A clicker is a device with a button. When pressed, the same sound is always emitted – a sharp noise or whistle. And when the dog executes a command, immediately press the button as a sign of approval. The clicker sound for the animal will signal that everything is done correctly. But for your pet to understand what this sound means and associate its behavior with the appearance of a whistle, you need to use the clicker in conjunction with the reward. Once the dog is comfortable, the reward can be removed.
Clicker training is effective in learning new tricks. And also in terms of containing unwanted behavior and performing more complex tasks.
5. Observation and repetition

Anyone who is closely familiar with dogs knows that they love to repeat the behavior of their owners. Dogs are sensitive and attentive animals. So, if you want to teach your dog something good, set the right example. For example, you can cross an obstacle on command or grab an object thrown to you. Or act as a rival of the animal, compete to complete the task and receive a reward correctly. The dog will quickly figure out what is going on and will learn to imitate the desired behavior.
This training method has been found to work as well as encouraging positive behavior. If you have a strong bond with your dog and are happy to spend a lot of time watching and following you, this technique may be the most effective technique for training your dog.
These are, of course, not all dog training methods that can be put into practice. However, we will advise the main thing – love your dog sincerely and free of charge. Then she will undoubtedly fulfill any of your requests and will be betrayed forever.
