The decision to have a pet always changes your life. However, if you know in advance what exactly awaits you and how to properly care for and educate him, you can avoid a significant part of possible problems. In the case of dogs, this works 100%. Here are some tips for current and future dog owners:

  1. Always feed the dog simultaneously: 1-3 times a day, do not allow him to beg, do not feed the dog from the table. Don’t feed your dog chicken bones, legumes, or fatty meats.
  2. Provide convenient water and food bowls for your dog. Keep them clean. Change the water every day, in the heat, several times a day.
  3. Determine a permanent place for the dog where the dog will be protected from drafts. The bedding and mattress should be washed regularly or buy new ones.
  4. Keep your dog clean. Wash, cut your nails, clean your teeth from tartar in old age. Regularly deworm your dog and treat it for external parasites, especially ticks, which can be fatal.
  5. If you want to trim your dog, trust a salon professional or a private groom the first time. Next time you will already know how to do it and can try it yourself.
  6. Constantly train your dog. It would help if you controlled her behavior in any situation.
  7. Don’t let your dog bark for no reason – it worries others.
  8. Do not allow your dog to straighten out natural needs on sidewalks, flower beds, playgrounds, near monuments. If an incident occurs, clean up after the dog.
  9. On the streets, in public places, and in areas with congestion of animals – keep the dog in your arms or on a short leash. To avoid conflicts, do not allow other people’s children to play with your dog without permission from their parents.
  10. Never go shopping with your dog. When transported in public transport, the dog must be in a special container (carrier), the rigid structure so that the dog is not injured in the crowd.
  11. Take good care of where you will place your dog on vacation or long trips. If you leave the dog to your relatives, friends, neighbors, be sure to leave written recommendations for care and feeding, as well as the phone numbers of the dog handler and veterinarian who are observing your pet.
  12. Register the dog in the veterinary clinic of your area at the place of residence, regularly conduct preventive examinations and complexes of vaccination measures. Get a veterinary passport for the dog with marks of the vaccinations done.
  13. Maintain relationships with dog handlers and kennel breeders to solve various raising and feeding, breeding, and exhibition events. Your dog, its fate, and success will always be the subject of care, pride, and interest from the breeder. Delight the breeder with a story about your pet.
  14. Do not humanize your dog. Although many of its emotions are similar to humans, it has a different mindset. Learn to understand your dog for who he is.
