Having decided to have a puppy, you need to consider his diet carefully. For a pet to grow up healthy and strong, he needs all the necessary trace elements, vitamins, and minerals. According to veterinarians, the correct diet is natural food.
Unlike dry food, to which manufacturers add various preservatives, colors, and flavor enhancers, natural homemade food is a reliable alternative. However, the pet owner will have to work hard to choose the right proportions in specific dishes for his dog. It should also be said that the preparation of natural food requires a lot of time and money.
The best recipes
When preparing natural food for your dog, you need to focus on its activity and weight. Optimally, when the daily intake of food is 6-8% of the animal’s total weight. If the dog is aged and does not move much, 4-5% will be enough. Accordingly, with a dog weighing 10 kg, the recommended daily intake is 0.5-0.8 g.
1. Porridge with turkey

To cook porridge with turkey, you will need:
1-1.5 kg turkey (can be substituted with chicken);
100 g of ground rice;
1 large carrot;
1 small zucchini;
100 g pumpkin;
1 tbsp olive oil, herbs.
Preparation:
Put the bird in a saucepan, add water, and put it on fire.
While the meat is cooking, you need to cut the vegetables.
Transfer the finished meat to a clean dish.
Send rice to the broth and cook until tender.
At this time, cut up the poultry by cutting the meat into small cubes.
Send meat to the finished rice, mix, and then add vegetables, oil, and herbs.
Vegetables are practically not cooked to preserve maximum benefits. For this reason, they are sent to the pan last. From this amount of ingredients, approximately 3 liters of porridge are obtained. This amount should be enough for a pet for several days.
2. Minced porridge

This recipe is good for puppies under 6 months old. To prepare porridge, you will need:
1 kg of ground beef;
1 large carrot;
1 large zucchini or zucchini;
olive oil;
100 g of buckwheat.
Preparation:
Boil the minced beef until half cooked.
Send buckwheat to the same container.
Peel vegetables and grate on a coarse grater.
When the buckwheat is ready, send the vegetables to the pan and mix thoroughly.
After 2 minutes, transfer the pot’s contents to a blender or food processor and mix thoroughly.
The result is a kind of puree, dearly loved not only by puppies but also by dogs of all ages. You cannot salt the dish.
There are a lot of recipes. As a rule, dog owners prepare natural food without measuring the exact amount of ingredients. It is necessary to monitor the animal’s reaction to a particular dish to understand which component to exclude or add to the diet.
What is natural food?
As already noted, natural food differs from dry granules in composition. The owner can be completely confident in-home food safety and feel free to give the dish to the pet. This is a balanced food that is free of excess salt and additives that can harm your dog.
Natural food is one that includes all categories of food:
Meat, cartilage, offal.
Low-fat dairy products.
Vegetables, fruits with minimum sugar content.
Cereals and cereals.
The only problem for the owner is to properly balance all categories of products since if there is a shortage of anything from this list, the pet will lose a lot of vitamins and minerals.
Percentage
The animal’s menu is made, taking into account its individual characteristics, weight, age, and breed. However, only pet food is different. The percentage of products always remains approximately the same:
Meat and offal – 50%.
Cereals and cereals – 30%.
Fermented milk products – 5%.
Vegetables and unsweetened fruits – 10%.
Additives – 5%.
However, such proportions are suitable for a dog of any weight category and breed in the absence of special medical indications.
Meat and offal
Dogs are predators by nature, which means that meat should always prevail in the diet. The priority is low-fat meat – beef, rabbit, turkey, chicken.
Liver, heart, and other organ meats can be added to the diet, but you should not give your dog these products more than 2-3 times a week. They are distinguished by lower calorie content, which means that the dog should eat more of such a product, which leads to obesity.
Dairy products
For the most part, dogs normally react to fermented milk products (except for breeds with a weak digestive system). Therefore, it is necessary to give your pet kefir or fermented baked milk every day.
Also, dairy products are a rich source of protein and calcium. But you can’t give dogs sweet yogurts with fruit or berry fillers: they are high in sugar and preservatives.
Combining meat and dairy feeding is also prohibited. The best option is to give dairy products for breakfast 2-3 times a week and meat and vegetables for dinner. 1-2 eggs per week are allowed, but not more: eggs provoke allergies in dogs.
Cereals, vegetables
The dog’s diet should contain a sufficient amount of vegetables and greens. The exceptions are potatoes, maize, and legumes. Zucchini, zucchini, cabbage, carrots are essential ingredients in a dog dish. But pet flour products should not be given: they contain too many simple carbohydrates.
Additives
Additives include bones and fish. These components should be on the animal’s menu but subject to certain conditions:
Dogs should not be given tubular bones.
Boiled bones should not be given.
Soft bones are allowed for food, which, when broken, will not harm the pet’s health.
As for fish, this product should be given carefully and only in boiled form. Besides, only sea fish are allowed. Otherwise, infection with worms is possible. There should be no bones in the product, but you need to give it 2 times a week, separately from meat feeding.
3. Dog casserole

To prepare such an almost exquisite dish, you will need:
0.5 kg of beef;
broccoli, carrots, eggplant – a total of 200g;
boiled brown rice – 100 g.
All ingredients must be placed in a glass baking dish, oiled with vegetable oil. Grate a small amount of cheese on top. The dish is ready in 15 minutes. As a rule, this feed is enough for 2-3 feedings.
4. Chicken hearts

A great recipe that will delight any dog. For cooking, you will need:
1 kg of chicken hearts;
1 carrot;
1 large apple.
Peel the hearts, rinse and boil until tender. At the same time, peel the carrots and apples, then grind the food in a blender. Send the finished hearts to a blender, grind.
Mix the whole mass thoroughly by adding a few drops of olive oil. A real delicacy that takes no more than 30 minutes to prepare. Enough feed for 2-3 feedings.
5. Porridge with a heart

There are unlimited quantities of porridge for dogs. If you change the cereals and meat component daily, you can constantly get different cereals. To prepare one of them, you will need:
beef heart – 1-1.5 kg;
round rice 150 g;
large carrot;
zucchini, bell pepper, pumpkin – 200 g in total;
olive oil.
Boil the beef heart. At this time, peel and cut the vegetables into medium-sized cubes. Take out the heart, dilute the broth with water, and send the rice into it. When the cereal is cooked, mix all the ingredients, seasoning the dish abundantly with herbs, and dripping a little olive oil.
